The Triton Personal Submarine

Triton models are engineered with many different unique features that set them in addition to the competition. The acrylic sphere has an extreme viewing which maximizes the experience. Its compact design requires lower than 14 x 9 feet of deck space, yet is extremely stable in the water with all the catamaran design. They are launched and recovered without personnel inside. By not requiring a 'man-rated launch and recovery system' the price of purchase and operation is kept lower. The sub has great maneuverability having the capacity to rotate within its length. The main ballast chambers are placed directly above the standard batteries which power the submarine. Compressed air and oxygen tanks can be found directly below the occupant compartment. Onboard automated electronic systems provide highly sophisticated control and monitoring capabilities.

The sub is engineered with a great deal of technology made for ease of operation. The thrusters are controlled with a three axis joystick which allows complete charge of the sub. All systems are monitored by both mechanical gauges and electronic 'touch screen' reducing complications to the pilot. With features just like an advanced auto pilot, GPS/Doppler navigation, automated alarms, and embedded checklists with regard to added safety, this is a highly capable submarine. Additionally, the sub features monitors for oxygen, fractional co2, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, depth, and gas pressures. Depending upon the model, the endurance time is between 5 to 10 hours.

The occupants are sitting upright in comfortable seats in the air conditioned passenger compartment. Since that passenger compartment remains at one atmosphere pressure, you shouldn't have for concerns about decompression sickness, nitrogen narcosis, or oxygen toxicity. This is the ultimate in tech diving. The submarine is similar to one big re-breather unit with the tanks strapped underneath, this is not on your back or side. Security features include quick drop ballast, making the sub buoyant at any depth. The hydraulic articulated arm includes a quick emergency disconnect also. Precautionary features are designed into every facets of the submarine. In case a system malfunctions, you can find redundant systems in place to prevent failure.

The life support system in the Triton uses what is known as a 'metabolic comprise system', the same as other submersibles and submarines. The cabin is replenished with oxygen because crew consumes it and also the carbon dioxide is removed (scrubbed) by having a bed of soda lime granules. The machine provides for a constant flow of oxygen adjusted with the consumption rate of the occupants.
